Couples Ministry

The Young Couples Ministry was started in 2005. The fellowship main objective was to establish a fellowship that would meet the unique spiritual needs of newly married couples and also create a forum for socializing. The membership has grown from 4 couples to membership of 15 couples.

Young Couples Ministry The vision of the ministry is to build strong Christ Centered Families, while its mission is “to facilitate the growth in Christian maturity of young couples and to strengthen and encourage one another in the application of Biblical principles in family life hence influencing successive generations for Godly Living.”

The vision and mission are derived from the ministry’s theme verse Joshua 24:15“And if it seems evil to you to serve the LORD, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.”

The long term objectives of the ministry include:

1. Growth in Spiritual Maturity (Ephesians 4:14), which is achieved through facilitated weekly Sunday bible studies, weekly prayer circles, monthly social fellowships and various ministerial activities including encouraging their members to get involved in ministering
2. To the fellowship, rehabilitation of alcoholics, among others
3. Nurturing strong families through facilitated mentorship programs and interactive Marriage Enrichment Seminars/Workshops covering topics such as Communication, Conflict Resolution, Handling Finances, Growing in Intimacy, Sexual Intimacy, In-Laws, Expectations and Roles, and Parenting Gods Way.
4. Relationship Building and Accountability initiatives, to be achieved through the creation of a code of Honor, establishment of Parkie young couples website and blog and occasional couples fellowships.
5. Increasing the number of young couples by at least 15 couples annually, which will be achieved through quarterly publicity campaigns to create awareness of the Young Couple Ministry activities; presenting new couples with gifts during their weddings and inviting them to join the fellowship after their honeymoon; and motivating members by inviting renowned and interesting speakers to some of the functions.

Towards achieving holistic transformation of members and growth of the ministry, members are encouraged to remain committed to
maintaining the ministry’s core values:

  • To be committed to change the current thinking about marriage and to make it attractive to those who are not yet in it
  • To seek opportunities to publicly commend one another and to be publicly and privately positive about our spouses and each other
  • To take time, energy and other requisite resources to celebrate with those who have succeeded and to mourn with those who mourn
  • To uphold integrity, unity, honesty and forthrightness in our dealings with each other and other bodies of the church without compromising on our beliefs and commission; and
  • To seek to uphold the growth of each member, each couple and the fellowship as a whole
